Collectables Pinot Noir
Walnut Collectables Block Wines Pinot Noir - Marlborough, New Zealand - 75cl
A rich bouquet of sweet dark cherry and a hint of chocolate with underlying smoky, earthy tones. The palate shows delicate layers of red fruits and savoury characters, balanced with gentle acidity and fine tannins. This wine is well structured making it ideal to pair with food.
Walnut Block’s dedication to using organic growing methods not only is environmentally friendly but also allows the fruit to develop to its full potential, producing this unique Marlborough Pinot Noir.
Grown in European style high density planting using top quality Burgundy clones. Shoot and fruit thinned to ensure good ripening and development of flavours and tannin. Certified Organic by BioGro New Zealand. The estate's commitment to organics allow the vineyard’s unique characters to be expressed due to less outside influences such as sprays and fertilizers. Depth of flavour and mouthfeel has improved as the vines become more self-sufficient and naturally balanced.
Handpicked and then chilled overnight at 2ºC to preserve delicate flavours. The cold fruit is de-stemmed and crushed into open top fermenters. Naturally fermented by the vineyard’s wild yeasts and aged for 9 months in high quality French barriques.
About Walnut Block
Founded in 2005, Walnut Block Wines is the vision of two brothers – Clyde and Nigel Sowman. In combining their experience in viticulture and the wine industry with their passion for and appreciation of fine wine, they have created a boutique winery offering a unique range of superbly crafted organic Marlborough wines. The estate takes its name from Marlborough’s oldest walnut tree that towers majestically above the sauvignon blanc vines, providing a special historical focal point for the vineyard.
The Collectables wine series label has been proudly designed to bring some of New Zealand’s rich history to wine lovers. Depicting an adaptation of the 1898 Kiwi New Zealand stamp, the label is symbolic of New Zealand’s past and these young fruit driven Marlborough wines.
