Salaisons Chambost is a family business that marks its beginnings in 1919, when Émile Chambost took over a traditional charcuterie in Tarare. He decided to specialise in dried sausages in 1940, and extended the facilities between rue Etienne Dolet and rue Gambetta. His son Aimé, brother Pierre, and cousin Robert took over the management in 1954 to meet Salaisons Chambost's growing demand, with the business later moving to its current site in 1985. The company reached another milestone in the summer of 2019, when Jean-Claude Chambost sold it to the Breton Jean-Floc'h Group – an agri-food firm with over 50 years of experience in the meat industry.
