All grapes at Quinta do Pégo are certified sustainable agriculture according to PRODI (Integrated Production) principles. Among other parameters, this includes to maintain the stability of ecosystems including healthy soil and clean water, to preserve natural resources and wildlife, and to promote biodiversity.

Cerro do Santo is the result of a careful selection of wines, produced at the Danish owned Quinta do Pégo, situated on the left bank of the Douro river in the Douro valley in Portugal. Quinta do Pégo’s land is classified in group A and owned by AMKA. After a total renovation Quinta do Pégo opened in spring 2009 with hotel. Without doubt it is one of the most beautiful quintas in the Douro Valley - and Hotel Rural Quinta do Pégo is certainly worth a visit.

This wine is Quinta do Pégo’s second wine - and like the first wine the South African winemakers Wouter Pienaar and Niel Bester are the winemakers behind it.

This wine is vegan friendly and skilfully blended from Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Sousão and Tinto Cão grapes grown at Quinta do Pégo’s 30 hectares in the Cima Corgo area in the Douro Valley.

It is dark ruby red in colour and has ripe red berries and fruit on the nose. It is very elegant and balanced, with concentrated dark fruit, notes of spices and oak and has a long lingering finish.

This elegant wine has been aged in French oak barrels. Afterwards the wine has been aged in the bottle before being released.

This harmonious and wellstructured wine is suitable for beef, veal, red meat, game and cheese.

This is indeed an extraordinairy red wine, which is ready to be enjoyed now, but it will also improve with bottle ageing and has a good maturation potential.
