Varietal Composition and viticulture
100% Pinot Gris. The vines are on well-drained sandy gravels on warm sites and are a mix of clones: Lincoln-Berry Smith and 2/15. They were hand-thinned to reduce the crop-load to about 3kg a vine. The grapes were harvested in April.
Winemaking
Most of the Pinot Gris is grown metres from the winery where all wine is made and bottled. Fermentation was stopped early to leave some residual sugar (9.5g). The wine spent four months on yeast lees before blending.
Tasting Notes
This delicious wine has upfront fruit with lovely pear and peach flavours. Some subtle quince and spice notes add to the complexity. Some residual sugar results in a medium-full palate with great texture.
