White Wine - Sauvignon Blanc 2022
Background
Mount Brown Estates is named after our first vineyard in the foothills of Mount Brown in the Waipara Valley. Our Sauvignon Blanc was planted in 2006.
Geographical Indicator: North Canterbury
Source: 100% Sauvignon Blanc, Limeloader vineyard
Tasting Notes
This varietally expressive Sauvignon Blanc has gooseberry aromas with tropical fruit flavours. The palate shows good weight and fruit concentration with fine acidity and texture followed by a crisp citrus finish. Full of life and flavour.
Varietal Composition and viticulture
100% Sauvignon Blanc. The grapes are grown on well drained gravel soils. All vines are grafted onto 3309 rootstock which limits crop and enhances flavour intensity.
Winemaking
The Sauvignon Blanc is grown metres from the winery it’s made and bottled in. Traditional New Zealand wine making techniques were used to retain as much varietal character as possible. The wine spent a short period on yeast lees after fermentation before being stabilized, filtered and bottled.
