Wild Night? Cure that Hangover Naturally With These Foods!

Get ahead of that hangover with these tips.

Sometimes it just happens. You have that third… or fourth cocktail because the music is too good and you don’t want to leave or you order another bottle of wine during an especially delicious dinner, and whoa, the next morning is a little tougher than you wanted.

We’ve got some ideas for curing that hangover naturally.

Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate

Start curing that hangover before you take your first sip of alcohol. Alcohol is a diuretic, so you need to balance what your body expels with what it takes in. Drinking water throughout the day helps you stay hydrated before you start imbibing. Then, before you nod off for the night, drink as much water as you can and in the morning do the same.

Pre-Game with Bae Juice

Korean Bae Juice slows down the absorption of alcohol into the bloodstream preventing a hangover. Bae literally translates to “pear” in Korean, and that’s all Bae Juice is — 100% Korean pear juice. A superfood that lowers cholesterol and reduces blood pressure, Korean pear is also chock full of the antioxidants and micronutrients your body needs to combat a big night out.

Breakfast for Dinner

Myth busting time! Eating a big breakfast to soak up alcohol doesn’t really work. It may even make you feel worse by upsetting your stomach more. However, there is some evidence that eating heavier foods, such as sausages with eggs or carbs, may slow the absorption of alcohol in the bloodstream.

Why not flip your day and have a hearty fry-up for dinner? Our Pork Chipolatas are the perfect traditional breakfast accompaniment to eggs, toast, beans… you do you. Plus, they are all-natural and free from hormones, antibiotics, gluten and nitrates.

Not feeling like brekkie in the evening? Try Little Farms’ Italian Pork Sausages sliced into a simple spaghetti sauce for a hearty carb-protein base before a boozy evening.

Reach for Fruits & Veg

Your body needs complex carbohydrates and minerals to replenish and reset. Bananas are easy on the stomach and loaded with the potassium and magnesium your body needs to recover. If your head can handle the noise, whip up a smoothie with bananas, a few tablespoons of nut butter, and coconut water.

Not a banana fan? Other potassium-rich foods include avocados and spinach. Try making a simple avocado toast with wholegrain bread, smashed avocado and a little sautéed spinach.

Brew Ginger Tea

Ginger is one of the best nausea reducing remedies around. Brew up fresh ginger tea by simply grating some ginger into a mug, pouring hot water on top, and steeping for a few minutes.

Curb the Nausea with Kombucha

Kombucha, a fizzy sweet-and-sour drink made with tea, is loaded with probiotics that can reduce gut inflammation and relieve abdominal pain and nausea. This is an easy one —simply pop the top and sip.

Sleep it Off

And failing any of the above… just go back to bed. Sleep is the cure for most anything that ails you. And in this case after fitful night, restoring your natural circadian rhythm is key to recovery.
